What do Lexington Afterschool Programs do?
In partnership with parents, school staff, and community organizations, LPS Afterschool Programs empower students to reach their full potential by offering expanding learning opportunities. These include academic support, recreational activities, and enriching educational experiences, all within a safe and nurturing environment.
How do Afterschool Programs help the community?
Lexington Afterschool Programs aim to offer students additional learning opportunities that extend beyond the school day. The program focuses on academics, homework assistance, physical activity, healthy eating, intervention, social and emotional learning, and engaging educational activities. Our goal is to continue providing a safe, supervised, and stimulating environment for children and youth after school, while also supporting the needs of working families.
What do Afterschool Programs hope to accomplish?
Lexington Afterschool Programs aims to engage 60 students from each elementary school, offering academic support and supplemental education through a variety of enrichment activities. Additionally, we seek to collaborate with community organizations and volunteers to enhance our programs We invite them to contribute their expertise and resources to benefit our students and the program as a whole.
How have the Afterschool Programs impacted Lexington in the last year?
Last year, the Afterschool Program successfully served over 345 students during the school year and provided support to additional students in the Lexington Middle School summer program. Participants in the afterschool programs received academic assistance, opportunities for recreation, and an emphasis on career exploration.
How do Afterschool Programs plan to use the money raised during Give BIG?
Lexington Afterschool Programs will allocate donated funds to acquire additional supplies and materials for specialized clubs. Additionally, the funds raised will be used to purchase essential equipment to support daily programming needs.
