We are in need of a new fire hall!

$12,850

raised by 20 people

Through teamwork and professionalism, the mission of the Cozad Volunteer Fire Department is dedicated to the safety, protecting, and saving the lives and property of all individuals in our district. We shall honor the call for assistance to our mutual aid brothers. Our training will provide all members the skills and abilities to perform the duties safely so that “everyone comes home”.

For those on our rescue team their mission is to provide the highest levels of emergency planning, fire protection and pre-hospital care to the residents and visitors of Cozad, Dawson County, and mutual aid areas. The quality of the principles of: Safety, Commitment, Respect, Honesty, Teamwork, and Education

We have outgrown our current fire hall and to be able serve our community to its full capacity we are going to need to find a new location and larger facility. Our equipment is growing in size and our members are crowded. Our goal is to raise funds to help build a fire hall and training area that will help our members be able to have the means necessary to serve our community. We will be applying for grants and relying on fundraisers to help us reach our goal.

Cozad Fire & Rescue consists of 34 members, with 18 of these members being EMTs. We are 100% volunteer department. During 2023, we answered a total of 530 calls. As of July 31, 2024 we have answered a total of 294 calls. This is a very high volume of calls for a volunteer department. During 2023 our department was recognized as the Statewide EMS Service of the Year. Our volunteers go above and beyond to support our community, not only by putting the response to a call above their own personal life but also by attending meetings and trainings to make themselves Champions for the Cozad community.

Events we have planned:

  • Standby for local sporting and community events
  • Fire Prevention activities at schools
  • Junior Fire Patrol
  • Maker Fair
  • Charity Softball Tournament
  • Awards Banquet/Recognition
