DAR is centered on God, Home, and Country. Since joining Give BIG Lexington, DAR - Bonneville Chapter has been able to expand interest and influence in the Lexington community by offering scholarships to local high school seniors and promoting Veteran’s Day and Constitution Week to the schools and the community. The proceeds from Give BIG Lexington '24 will be used as funding for a Citizenship knowledge project sponsored by DAR. Students grades 6-12 will be invited to participate in a 100 questionnaire about civics, constitution, government, and our freedoms and responsibilities as a United States citizen. 1st and 2nd place prizes will awarded. Funding of these prizes will total half of the total dollars raised from Give BIG '24.

"Bonneville Chapter supports patriotic, educational, and historic preservation events and projects. DAR also erected a patriotic barn quilt at Heartland Military Museum and participated in Veteran's Day and Hero Flight activities. Constitution Week in September is highlighted by a mayoral proclamation, displays, and ringing bells on September 17. A local high school senior is selected each year as the DAR Good Citizen. DAR is proud to have a marker at the site of the 1867 Union Pacific derailment incident west of Lexington as well as on Oregon Trail sites. Decorating a tree at the Dawson County Museum and Service to America Day are annual events."

Daughters of the American Revolution is a nonprofit, nonpolitical volunteer women's service organization founded with and dedicated to the simple mission of promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America's future through better education.  DAR’s motto is: “God, Home, and Country”

The three main areas of focus of the Daughters of the American Revolution are:

  1. Historic preservation
  2. Education
  3. Patriotism
