DEPARTMENT CHAPLAIN
The Dawson County Sheriff’s Office recently implemented a department Chaplain program in 2024. Sheriff Mark Montgomery made a commitment to each employee at the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office to make mental health a priority. Around that same time, Mr. Al Copper approached Sheriff Montgomery with the proposal to be a volunteer Chaplain for the Sheriff’s Office. It was decided that this was a perfect fit in coordination with the mental health initiative.
Some of the responsibilities of the Chaplain range from delivering the unfortunate news of a death notification to being available to all employees for not only their mental health but also their spiritual health. Helping organize social events, perform ride-a-longs, provide food for special occasions, and even recognize employees for exemplary conduct.
Currently, there is no budget for these expenses.
Donations received through the Give Big Lexington Foundation will be used in the following ways;
- Provide support in multiple areas for all employees of the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office.
- Continue to recognize individuals for going above and beyond.
- Training
- Cost associated with serving law enforcement, which may not already be known.
The Dawson County Sheriff’s Office Chaplain program wants to thank you in advance for any support you are willing to provide to include the agency in your prayers for the continued safety of our staff and Community.
