With this quote in mind, the Lexington Public Library knows that the possibilities are endless. The Friends of the Library are on board to help the Library reach for the stars and to improve upon the community asset that is the Library.
Friends of the Lexington Public Library is an integral part of ALL that the Lexington Public Library is and does. This year’s project goal is a StoryWalk®- a literacy boosting project that places an illustrated children’s book along a walking path in a community space, like a local park. Promoting movement, literacy and time together, the Lexington StoryWalk® will be a great addition to the community, taking the library outdoors for all to enjoy. Please consider a donation to the Friends of the Library and support Lexington’s very own StoryWalk®.
The Lexington Public Library hosts programs and events funded by the Lexington Community Foundation through the Library Initiative Grant. This two-year grant provides up to $10,000 annually to fund the Lexington Public Library's cultural, educational, and entertaining programs.
Summer 2024 was all about ‘Adventure Begins @ Your Library.’ Boy, did we have adventures. From gardening adventures with Natural Escapes of Cozad to Crane River Theater performing their Page to Stage rendition of Beauty and the Beast, the library was out and about bringing adventure to Lexington.
The Library Initiative Grant also helped sponsor the inaugural One Book, One Lexington community read program by purchasing multiple copies of Carlos R. Servan's Running Dreams and sponsoring the author at the library during Lexington’s 150th birthday celebration.
