Lexington Veteran Pavilion and Amphitheater
Supporting our troops past and present is what the Lexington Veterans Pavilion is all about. Located at Kirkpatrick Memorial Park, the facility held its inauguration ceremony to an enthusiastic crowd on June 29, 2024. Led by the Veterans Pavilion Task Force, the event honored all veterans and active service personnel, especially those from Lexington and Dawson County.
The Pavilion features an open-air stage (amphitheater) with restrooms and handicap access. Surrounding the amphitheater is a five-sided walkway. There is a kiosk at each corner of the walkway, with bronze emblems for the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, and Coast Guard. Below each bronze emblem is a plaque with a QR code. Anyone with a smart device can scan the QR code and instantly get more information about that branch of the military and its place in the history of our country.
The venue is open to public use and will attract various public events such as outdoor concerts, arts, and entertainment performances, and other significant events.
Near the amphitheater is a memorial wall with room for hundreds of brick markers that can be purchased to honor individual veterans. Almost 200 bricks were installed before the dedication ceremony; many more will be placed in several installments.
The City of Lexington is planning future improvements including additional bronze commemorative plaques, landscaping features, benches, and more. Your continued generosity through Give BIG Lexington will be used respectfully to continue the goals of remembrance, education, and entertainment at the Veterans Pavilion and Amphitheater.
